Extemporaneous speaking requires the speaker to have a strong command of language, good research skills, and the ability to think on their feet, as they have to come up with a well-structured speech in a short period of time.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

-Individual event

-2 + 1 mins per participant

-Topics given 5 minutes before event and participants prepare and present before the audience.

-The individual will have to speak on an impromptu topic for a set amount of time.

-Time: 1 hour

-First 2 winners of prelims to be selected for finals on 11 to 13 April 2023.

QUIZ EVENTS

A quiz is a form of game or a mind sport in which players attempt to answer questions correctly on one or several specific topics. This intellectual rendezvous will test your wit and knowledge, and only the most incredible minds will rise above the pressure.

POT-POURRI

Here's a chance to showcase your knowledge and presentation skills as you, along with your teammates, navigate through Pot Pourri to the zenith of victory. It's the perfect culmination of various literary events, ranging from brain teasers to dumb charades and Pictionary.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

-3 members per team

-Consists of a mix of lit events like brain teasers, 20Q, Pictionary, dumb charades & what’s the good word.

-Written prelims

JAM EVENTS

Just A Minute provokes you to think spontaneously and carve out your thoughts into words about a wide variety of topics in literally, - ‘just a minute’. Designed to test off the cuff speeches of participants, it requires you to formulate arguments with logic, support them with examples and deliver them with confidence.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

-JAM master decides rounds.

-8-9 participants are panelists who bang on the table if an error is committed, list out the error and speak if the JAM master agrees with the person.

-Judged on clarity, content, presentation, relevance to the topic & language.

-Participants lose points on late start, early start, speech defect, grammatical error.

--5 for wrong correction, +10 for every 5 seconds the participant speaks. Additional points for getting the buzzer at the end of the minute. No participant is eliminated during the course of JAM.

DEBATE

Debate is an extracurricular activity which not only develops the effective communication skills but also builds on critical thinking abilities of individuals which helps them to become much more confident and helps them to creatively express themselves. Participants are given the opportunity to exchange meaningful viewpoints with opponents and come to a consensus, enhancing their conviction and collaborative skills.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

-Two in a team

-I4mins +1min rebuttal time.

-Points will be awarded for content, fluency, style and rebuttal

-Topic will be announced a day earlier.

DUMB CHARADES

Charades is a game of pantomimes: you have to "act out" a phrase or title without speaking, while the other members of your team try to guess what the phrase or title is. It facilitates awareness of how emotion, identity and social situations can be conveyed through faces.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

-3 members per team

-In the event, the participant will be given a word to enact.

-No spelling, rhyming, splitting, etc.

-Preliminary rounds to be decided by the judges (E.g. People, Movies, Etc.)
